On November 27, 2024, Pearl Press, an online fine art magazine released their 23rd issue, titled Sport. A photo of mine, “Soccer, from the stands”, was featured in the release. I took this photo at a NWSL game in June when Angel City hosted Racing Louisville, at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Angel City, who I was rooting for, had scored an early two goals in the first half; Racing Louisville tied it in the second. The rest of the game was filled with anticipation each time a team attempted to score. Then, with five minutes left in the game, Angel City’s Sydney Leroux scored the game-winning goal and the crowd went wild. Each part of this image–from the goalkeeper lying on the ground, to the Angel City players in black running in celebration, to the hands in the air–gives me chills as they remind me of the exhilaration of this special moment.

The post can be viewed here: www.instagram.com/p/C-JHwJzy26Z/?img_index=3 Over the summer, I was invited by the curator to showcase 24 of my photos in an art exhibition, in a collage titled “Minor Yet Major”. I was the only student present, alongside older, established artists of other media including photography. The exhibition focused on the “death” of major league professional sports in Oakland (following the departure of the Athletics, the Raiders, and the Warriors). It was “An exhibition documenting the past & future, the fans & community, the landmarks and memories of over 60 years and counting.”
With my photos, I wanted to focus on the Oakland sports community that has filled the void as they support their smaller, minor league, professional teams. In my collage, I featured photos of the Oakland Spiders (ultimate frisbee, Ultimate Frisbee Association), the Oakland Roots (soccer, USL Championship League) and most recently the inaugural game for the Oakland Ballers (baseball, Pioneer League); all teams who are dedicated to Oakland and their fans. All of the photos of the Oakland Ballers team are from their exhilarating inaugural opening day on June 4, 2024. The exhibition showed at the Ramsess Art Garden from July 26-28, 2024, with an opening reception on the 26th from 7-9pm. You can see more photos from the event below. Every year, the Bay Area Creative Foundation, a local Bay Area organization, hosts their annual creative competition for local high schoolers. My photo, “Frozen Droplets”, was awarded Exceptional Awardee status amongst over 1,800 submissions. I took this photo at an USL-Championship soccer match between the Oakland Roots SC and San Antonio FC on October 1, 2023.

A photo of mine was featured in her post.
An image of mine was published in the Pleasanton Weekly, a local newspaper, in their weekly sports report. The image features the 2022 Athenian Owls Girl's Cross Country Team, which qualified for the State race earlier that weekend. The team placed 5th overall (out of 33 teams) to qualify for the State Championships for their first time in 8 years.

The Spiders are a professional, minor-league ultimate frisbee team. This was a great learning opportunity as I got to collaborate with other staff photographers.
In their post-game post on Instagram, 7 of my photos were used. You can view the full post here: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ctb07scpDnT/ |
